March 16, 2025Cades Cove is quite a ways away, in all honesty. It is worth the trip to take, but as Cades Cove is located very, very deep into the Smoky Mountains National Park between Townsend, TN and Gatlinburg, TN, it will take more than an hour to drive there from Foothills RV and more than an hour to drive back. The good news is we just happen to be across the parkway at Stoplight #10 from a lesser-known shortcut called “Conner Heights Road” which is a straight shot from Pigeon Forge to Wears Valley, TN, a community you would need to drive through to get to Townsend and Cades Cove anyway. This would save at least 20 minutes of driving as opposed to taking the main way from Pigeon Forge to Wears Valley Road and as much as 45 minutes if there’s traffic in town.
